The copper in the alloy reacts with oxygen (oxidation), which causes the jewelry to turn yellowish.
Silver reacts with sulfur from the air, sweat or cosmetics (sulfidation), which causes it to turn black.
How to take care of silver jewelry?
Wear Your jewelry (friction against skin or clothing acts as a natural polish).
Take off Your silver jewelry when: exercising, bathing (especially in pools or salt water), applying creams or makeup, or doing housework.
If the jewelry is not worn for a long time, keep it in an airtight bag (a bag that does not let in air or moisture).

First of all, what is 925 sterling silver?
STUDIO MEMENTO VIVERE silver jewelry is made from 925 sterling silver, which means the alloy contains 92.5% pure silver, and the rest is an alloy (ligature, mostly consisting of copper).
Why is an alloy needed?
Pure silver (999 fine silver) is simply too soft for jewelry - it would bend and scratch very easily. The alloy gives it the necessary strength and durability so You can enjoy Your jewelry every day. However, it's important to remember: even strengthened, silver is not "indestructible". It still requires love and care, so it should be treated as nobly as it looks (it is a precious metal, after all).
How to bring back the "silver" color at home?
A few drops of dish soap + a soft toothbrush + warm water = a great way to restore shine and remove accumulated dirt. After washing, make sure to dry Your jewelry thoroughly, as moisture is an ally of oxidation.
Baking soda and foil bath: line a bowl with aluminum foil, place Your jewelry inside, cover it with baking soda and pour in boiling water. The water will start to foam. Leave the jewelry for 5-10 minutes. During this time, a chemical reaction will occur that removes all yellowing and blackening. IMPORTANT: if Your jewelry has stones, enamel, or is intentionally oxidized (darkened for design purposes) - do not use this method.
