About me and STUDIO MEMENTO VIVERE

To be honest, I really don’t like talking about myself. I never know where to start or how to describe myself, but perhaps the most accurate word would be an artist (?). 😄

Since I was a child, I’ve been involved in all sorts of creative outlets, however music was always my greatest passion. Growing up, my dream was to be a rockstar 🤘. Unfortunately, after graduating high school, I felt pressured to choose a “promising career path,” so the arts were pushed aside, and I moved to Denmark to study Chinese and Business. Yes, Chinese. 你好! (Though I suppose there’s an art to that, too...)

I spent seven years of my adult life living abroad: in Denmark, China and later Norway, traveling as much as I could. During that time, I earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in a field that didn't interest me in the slightest.

Eventually, I made the decision to return to Lithuania to finally discover what makes me happy and to build a career in the creative field. That led me to become a graphic designer and later, I moved towards what I thought was my ultimate goal: UI/UX design. However, at the end of the day, I didn’t feel fulfilled. I felt a desperate need for the freedom to make my own decisions.

I realized that I couldn’t and didn’t want to spend an entire month trying to justify the color of a button. Overall, life in an office was incredibly stressful, I was constantly exhausted, full of anxiety and felt like my life lacked meaning, leading to one existential crisis after another.

During that time, the only thing that truly brought me joy was one of my hobbies: making jewelry. Through creating, I reminded myself that life is full of wonderful things - the kind of things we so often forget when we get caught up in our daily routines. In general, whenever I create freely, I FEEL ALIVEEE! 😩

My name is Gerda Kavaliauskaitė

I make STUDIO MEMENTO VIVERE jewelry

After finally leaving my office job, I decided to create a space for myself that makes me happy, a place where I can bring joy to people and remind them that we are alive. And as long as we are alive, we can laugh, create, be exactly who we are and enjoy everything this world has to offer.

Memento Vivere - is a Latin phrase meaning "remember to live." Through my work, I want to remind both myself and You not to forget to live.

I don’t use 3D modeling programs in my process. Most of my pieces are hand-carved in wax, which is later cast into precious metals. Many of my works are one-of-a-kind.

I pour an immense amount of love, time, and a piece of my soul into everything I create. I truly hope that this love and positive energy find their way to You. ❤️

My wish is that when You catch a glimpse of my work on Your body, You pause for a split second and remember that You are here, in this moment. You are alive.

Lots of love,

Gerda
